A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE TRINITY EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL SAINTS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE SOUTH STATE 1A CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints Basketball Team completed the 1998-1999 season with an outstanding 31 wins and nine losses, winning the South State 1A Championship; and
WHEREAS, throughout their season, the Saints participated in several tournaments, which included victories at the District and South State Championships as well as third place in the Overall State 1A Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Saints were superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach David King and Assistant Coach Michael Calcote, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Coach King has brought additional honor to Trinity Episcopal Day School for being named the District Coach of the Year and the State All-Star Team Coach; and
WHEREAS, many individual honors were bestowed among the players, including the naming of Marcus Calcote, Bobby Craig and Kris Thomson to the All-District and All-State Teams and the selection of Marcus Calcote as the Most Valuable Player; and
WHEREAS, the Saints have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Trinity Episcopal Day School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints Basketball Team and Head Coach David King and Assistant Coach Michael Calcote for their outstanding 1998-99 season, for winning the South State 1A Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished Trinity Episcopal Day School, Head Coach David King and Assistant Coach Michael Calcote and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
